Completed Projects

(Last updated 11/1/06)

Railroad Avenue Sanitary Sewer

The first public works project completed in the Downtown was the installation of a 24 inch sanitary sewer trunk line in Railroad Avenue.  Approximately 3100 linear feet of sewer line was installed from P Street to Maple Street. The project began in November 2004 and was completed in January 2005, nearly one month ahead of schedule.

First Street Storm Drain Relocation

The second public works project in the Downtown was the relocation of a storm drain.   There was an existing 24 inch storm drain pipe that ran from Maple Avenue to Livermore Avenue through the “Golden Triangle” property that will soon be the home to the new movie cinema, performing arts building, and other new commercial buildings. The existing storm drain line was in conflict with the proposed buildings and the First Street Streetscape Project also needed additional storm drainage facilities. Therefore, the storm drain was relocated into First Street and then through the “Golden Triangle” property in an area not in conflict with the proposed buildings.

In order to accommodate the additional runoff from the Streetscape project, the storm drain line was upsized to 30 inches. Approximately 1200 linear feet of storm drain pipe and related facilities was installed. The project began in the middle of January 2005 and was completed by the end of February 2005.

First Street Water Line

A new 12 inch water main was constructed in First Street in order to provide adequate water supply and pressure to meet the demands of the new developments in the Downtown and to replace aging infrstructure prior to the installation of the new Streetscape improvements.  California Water Service is the agency responsible for the water facilities in the Downtown and has completed work on replacement of the water line in First Street.

The project included the replacement of an existing 4 inch and 6 inch water main with a new 12 inch water main.  This project began in First Street between Livermore Avenue and Maple Street and extended to S Street.  The entire project was completed in May 2005.
