Convenient Location
LVK is near all the major business parks of the Tri-Valley.  Livermore's business parks, Bishop Ranch and Hacienda Business Parks are within 15 miles with easy freeway access, conveniently located approximately five miles from the I-580/680 interchange.

A Stable and Cooperative Base
LVK has an excellent working relationship with adjacent cities. The area cities and Alameda County participated in establishing an Airport Protection Area to keep the airport and its surroundings compatible with aviation activities.

Airport Improvements
Since 1982, LVK has received over $21 Million in federal grants to improve its facilities and to acquire approach protection land. A project to provide entirely new airfield signage and pilot controlled taxiway lighting has recently been completed.  The Airport Diagram and Facility Overview provides information about the number of aircraft, aviation operations, hangar space, and other related information.  Please contact the Airport Manager for additional details on facilities and/or fees.

Recognized Quality
The FAA designated LVK as a General Aviation Reliever Airport that serves to relieve the three mostly congested Bay Area air carrier airports from General Aviation (GA) operations. LVK has a superior infrastructure in place to serve GA and is a modern, clean facility with stable fixed base operators and room to accommodate growth. Runway 25R is equipped with an Instrument Landing System (ILS) that permits access during the occasional days with limited visibility.

Security
With a newly installed airport gate access control system, and an active Airport Watch Program supported by the Livermore Police Department, security is intact.

Weather
The Tri-Valley area can boast of flyable weather with rare exception. Any fog slipping over the hills arrives late and burns off early.

Convenience and Recreation
Food and lodging are just a few steps away. Golf is accessible from the field at Las Positas Golf Course. Convention facilities, winery tours, world class dining, recreational areas and the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system - all are within a short drive.

Demand-Based Development
The Tri-Valley area experiences rapid growth due to favorable demographic and socioeconomic factors. Because of a variety of well-planned housing options, great schools, climate, and Bay Area accessibility via BART and the freeway system, corporations and businesses increasingly decide to relocate to the Tri-Valley to avoid the high overhead costs and labor pool commuting issues associated with larger Bay Area cities. The continuing growth of a highly dynamic local economy has increased the need for air transportation and related services.  The City of Livermore is currently reassessing how the airport could meet those demands.
