Mission
The Livermore Police Department, in partnership with the community will strive to protect and improve the quality of life in Livermore; providing leadership through open communication, fair and dignified service, and interactive problem solving.

There are two Divisions in the Livermore Police Department:

Operations Division:

  • Investigations works to identify the suspects involved in reported cases and present them to the District Attorney for prosecution.
  • Crime Prevention provides the police link to the citizens of the community and provides valuable information to the citizens relating to issues in the City and the Police Department.
  • Crime analysis provides statistical data reports to members of the organization evaluating crime trends within the City.
  • Animal Control
  • Patrol, responds to calls for service, identify areas of interest in the community to improve in a proactive manner, and building relationships with the citizens and businesses in Livermore and being available to the needs of the City
Support Services Division
  • Dispatch

  • Horizons Family Counselling: The City of Livermore has a diversion program through Horizons for first-offender juveniles with minor offenses in which the family has an option of attending three family sessions to change the arrest to a non-arrest. 

  • Records and Communications is the answering point for callers calling the Police Department. Communications dispatches available personnel to respond to calls for service and answers 9-1-1 and emergency/non-emergency phone calls for service

  • Traffic: to enhance traffic safety and  Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Safety Education.
